Compostable materials are being used for compostable food waste bags and packaging, compostable bin liners are replacing plastic waste bags in some areas. Starch bags, made from corn, maize, potatoes, wheat conform to EN13432 standards therefore they must compost in a given period of time 30 days, 60 days, 90 days etc. Compost bags are more expensive than virgin, recycled or biodegradable plastic and designed for composting only otherwise they use more carbon than intended. |
